KEEP PUGET SOUND CLEAN

It’s Earth Month again and we are thrilled to be raising money for Puget Soundkeeper Alliance who works to keep Puget Sound clean by actually cleaning the waters (7 tons a year!) and by suing companies that don’t comply with the Clean Water Act.

We are looking to raise $50,000 for PSA to fund their operations and programs.

There are three ways to participate:

1. Click here to donate!

2. Join us for our WALK for WATER with PSA and Aveda around Capitol Hill on April 18th. Registration begins at 10.00 a.m. at Gary Manuel Aveda Institute.

3. You can have your haircut for our team for a suggested donation of $25. Come to GMAI on Sunday, April 18th at 11.00 a.m. for cuts, fun and community.

Elliott Bay Bookstore moving to Capitol Hill

Last night we learned with the rest of Seattle that Elliott Bay is moving to Capitol Hill – directly across the street from Gary Manuel Aveda Institute.

This is such a great addition to the street as well a great fit for the building. It will be nice to see the building shine again. The space will include underground parking, a cafe, as well as a room for author events. Can’t wait!

Kudos to Connie who graduated from the training program and is now on the floor at Gary Manuel Salon – way to go!!!

Justin has just finished Phase 2 and is now taking guests in Phase 3. Yay!

Gary Manuel Aveda Institute has Federal Financial Aid

After a year of working with the Department of Education, GMAI has been approved to provide federal financial aid to new and incoming students. This will allow people to apply for grants, subsidized loans in addition to our in-house financing and Sallie Mae programs.

GMAI’s Fall Career Fair Rocked!

Our Fall Career Fair was this week and it was the best one ever! With over 40 salons attending, it was a packed house. Our Career Fairs are held twice a year and allow salons and spas from the area to network, meet our Future Professionals and see their work.

The Fashion Show was amazing! Over 25 teams of Future Professionals created looks for two models using the theme “Head and Shoulders Above the Rest.” Great job everyone – can’t wait to see what you create in the Spring.

After the Career Fair, Gary, Tsofia and Heather from Gary Manuel Salon taught a class for the Cosmetology Future Professionals. The videos from this class will be on YouTube soon. Photos are courtesy of Chris, a stylist at Gary Manuel and Learning Leader at GMAI.
