The Gary Manuel Aveda Institute was just accredited by NACCAS, a national commission focused on the beauty industry. This is the first new school accreditation in Seattle since 1977. This will allow the school to apply to the Department of Education for Title IV funding. Congratulations!
Sunday was our annual trek to Heritage House at the Market, an assisted-living retirement community. Gary Manuel Salon & GMAI team members (and Future Professionals) go to the home each December to do the hair, nails and makeup of the residents. We have been doing this since Heritage House opened in the market and was our neighbor on Western Avenue – almost 20 years! Snacks, gifts and entertainment are enjoyed by all. Back this year by popular demand was the dancing team from Ana Montes’ Flameco Danzarte Studio. It is always our favorite way to spend the holidays seeing everyone smiling and feeling beautiful!

A big thanks to all of you who joined us on last week for our second annual Holiday Frenzy! We celebrated the holidays with our guests enjoying makeup finishing touches, Aveda gift sets, a DJ, and Tom Douglas’ Serious Pie. Door prizes included gift certificates for free facials and hair services at the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute as well as Aveda products. The Gary Manuel Aveda Institute hosted their Holiday Frenzy on December 3rd, with a packed house on Capitol Hill. Combined, we raised $1,500 for Genesis House, a local non-profit that supports individuals and their children in drug treatment programs.
